“I am a versatile, creative and seasoned leader in communications with more than 20+ years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, media relations, crisis and issues management, marketing, and executive counsel for the corporate, government and non-profits sectors. As an award-winning communicator, leading teams from five to 26 to 200, my passion for communicating and storytelling has served me well. For this, I was honoured twice with the highly coveted City Manager's Award for Excellence at both the City of Hamilton and the City of Mississauga. Before working in communications, I was an accomplished journalist which provides a unique perspective that I bring daily to my work in communications. It allows me to be able to see both sides of an issue and provide a higher insight in media relations. With stints at the Canadian Press and Global TV, by 26, I was a TV anchor and producer for a CTV News affiliate. As a business reporter, I covered a multitude of topics and issues. I hold a Bachelor of Applied Arts from Ryerson University (Broadcast Journalism) with a certificate in Public Relations. I studied with the CBC's Peter Mansbridge, and the Journal's Mark Starowicz, and hold an executive certificate in Risk and Crisis Communications from McMaster University. Through IABC, I am former President of Golden Horseshoe, VP of Toronto, National Board Member of Canada East Region and sat on the International Program Advisory Committee and long-time mentor of students of several surrounding colleges. I am also an Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) with IABC. ”
